My First Year Student Assessment - 1317 Words

After assessing the Mid-Year Student Assessment, I have come to several conclusions pertaining to my results. I have noticed that certain areas have increased whereas others have decreased. Areas in which I have improved include my academic motivation include study habits and math and science confidence. I found out very quickly that even though I did not have to study much in high school that college is much different and that I have to spend more time than I thought in order to be successful in more advanced or difficult classes. College requires much more studying that my high school courses did and the first semester proved that rather quickly. Another category in which I improved under academic motivation was math and science confidence. This is important considering I have decided to pursue a double major in the business field. The math section in particular will be a huge asset to me as I am enrolled in Accounting I next semester. The ways in which I have improved in these are as include forming study groups and having a relationship with the professors in those classes that I found myself struggling in. By going in and talking to the professors, I made myself a familiar face in the classroom and found that they began to want to help me more as well. I noticed a slight drop in my desire to finish college and that is partially due to the work load I am bearing this semester.
